Mother's day card

Hello everyone!

This is my first post so please forgive me if it doesn't look great. I'm still learning the ropes :)

Anyway, I know mother's day was over a week ago and I'm a little behind the times but I hope all you mums out there got spoilt rotten! I know my mum did! This is the card I made my mum for mother's day.

I got the inspiration for this card from a YouTube video I watched Dawn Olchefske, who is a Stampin Up demonstrator.  Here's a link to her blog where you can see the original card.

I've used cardstock in Rose Red and Baja Breeze. This is one of my all time favourite colour combinations. I used a little bit of vellum to layer, just to add a little bit of extra colour and texture. The lovely ribbon has sadly been discontinued for a while. Which is a shame because its so pretty and matchs the Rose Red card perfectly. Oh well it gives me an excuse to buy more ribbon when it finally runs out!

The stamped image is from the set Easter Blossoms. I just love this blossom image, it just looks like spring :)  In the close up above you can see the individual blossoms which I coloured in using Stampin Up markers. Also you can get a better look at the background. Unlike the original card I didn't use the faux Pearl technique. Instead I simply sponged the background with Baja Breeze and Whisper White ink pads to create a lightly mottled effect which I think is quite nice.
