Hi everyone!
Hope you all had a nice weekend/Jubilee bank holiday despite the not so great weather at times.
You may have seen my little shopping spree here. I decided to use the Kanban Woolly Bear stamps I bought to do my Dad's fathers day card. My Dad is Scottish so these stamps are perfect for him and I also found some tartan papers in my stash (although I'll probably get told that it's the wrong tartan for his family, but oh well). I really love this card! I'm so happy with the way it's turned out :)
The bear is made up of quite a few layers, which looks good but it does make the card quite heavy. Originally I was going to mask and stamp so that it ended up being a single stamped image on just on layer of card. But I've ran out of sticky notes so I couldn't do that. I had to stamp each image out individually, colour it, cut it out and then layer it up and stick it onto the rest of the images. I'm actually glad I did it this way because it adds a little bit of dimension.
As much as I like the card and (I adore the images!), I did have lot of problems with the stamps because of the way they react to the ink. Normally when I'm using Promarkers I like to stamp my images in black Memento ink because it doesn't bleed when it comes into contact with the alcohol in the Promarker ink. But these stamps really do not like the Memento ink at all! The black ink kind of seperated on the stamp so I couldn't get a crisp outline no matter what I did. Anoying is not the word! In the end I just gave up and used Staz On. It does give a lovely, crisp, dark outline but it does have problems with bleeding when you use Promarkers. It's not so bad if you leave it for 10-15 minutes before you start colouring. But you still have to be careful with paler colours where bleeding is more noticable.
You can see the difference in the inks on the card. The 'Dad' is a clear stamp inked with Memento, whereas the bear, clothes etc is inked with Staz On. I think you'll agree that the Staz On looks better!
I've also entered this into the Cardmaking and Papercraft father's day challenge which you can find here and a challenge on a blog called Out of a Hat Creations which can be found here.
I absolutley adore this little bear! And I've already got a few more projects planned with this little guy so keep an eye out for them in the coming weeks.
Hope you all like the card!

Hi Laura. Adorable card. I bet your dad will love it. I was interested to read about the ink problem. Could it be the card stock that is a problem. I use Staz-on for the majority of my stamping and coated card stock. For some reason Sadle brown just dosent work. The red and the green seperate and never sets. All other colours are fine. Your comments got me thinking this may happen with other inks. Just a thought. Thank you so much for sharing with the Hatters this week. Lovely to meet you. Have a great weekend.

Hi Laura, its a great card and you are right about the layering of the bear, it does look very rich and sumptuous. Intersting about the promarkers and it made me go back and look at the different between the stamping. Really enjoyed reading your post! cx
